Its spring here, and many of us are thinking about our much needed breaks from school, work, being busy moms or just needing to take some time to re-focus. The beach is calling our name this week! We always need some down time for ourselves. Vacation allows us to find some creative ways to stay on the move. Even if you take 15-20 minutes out of your day to do something to elevate the heart rate you will feel better and more energized while you enjoy time away. So while you’re away , take some time to stay fit by taking your daily exercise outdoors. It could be on a beach, by the pool , a mountain side (what fun!) or in any place that you find enjoyable outdoors !
We love being in the fresh air on the beach! Taking a 20 -30 minute walk or run along the beach is so therapeutic. Also the sand provides an excellent form of resistance to that walk or run. Barefoot or with sneakers on. After a long walk or run, we like to stretch and practice a few yoga sequences by the water. If yoga is not your thing , then take some time to do simple stretches for your body that focus on the back and legs. A simple side plank pose is great for core and balance. Side bends from a plank position add some stretching and lengthening of the waist. From there you can modify or have fun adding on to this pose. Feel free to play with different positions by lifting the top leg to hip level or to the sky! Hold this pose for 5-10 seconds. Wonderful for balance and working that hamstring!
Speaking of feet in the sand, who doesn’t love a cute pair of wedges or flip flops at the beach or around town? There are so many styles to choose from and can be worn with almost any outfit. Sandals, flats, heels or comfy wedges . What’s your favorite? Our favorite is a wedge. We love any and all wedges !
Happy Spring !
